P3 Network

MAERSK, MSC and CMA-CGM, the 3 largest container shipping companies have abandoned plans to launch their massive vessel-sharing alliance called the P3 Network.

This is following the rejection on Tuesday 6/17 by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) due to their increasingly strong stand on antitrust matters ; the proposed alliance was seen as anti-competitive and not in line with “social public interest”.

As MAERSK said “the P3 partners take note of and respect MOFCOM’s decision”.

For information, the 3 carriers had previously obtained approval from the United Stated and the European authorities.

In spite of this major turnaround, TRANSO still has service contracts with all of these carriers and you can count on us to provide you with further options, as and when required.
